Two Worthingtons

$1,350.00

This is a triptych, but there are actually 6 separate watercolors in this piece.

We live in one of the most diverse zip codes in the state of Minnesota, and I’ve enjoyed that a lot. In fact, I’ve been blessed to learn to speak and write Spanish, Laotian, and Thai.

I was inspired to create this work by the large immigrant population in our town, and the differences in the lives of those groups, on the one hand, and the established white American population on the other. Our family were initially outsiders to both groups when we moved in; immigrants largely saw us as indistinguishable from the white American community, and the white locals saw us as peculiar near-foreigners from further south, who did not fully understand their ways. Particularly the concept of ‘Minnesota Nice'.’

Please do not read anything political into these paintings-- they are just an interested look at a moment in time.

The piece comes framed and matted, as-is. Dimensions: Each of the 3 framed pieces is 20” x 26”, and each of the 6 separate watercolors is 16” x 8.5”.
